Brief Report of the programme: Swachh Bharat: Swachh Vidyalaya is the national campaign driving ‘Clean India: Clean Schools’. A key feature of the campaign is to ensure that every school in India has hygiene facilities. School sanitation and hygiene depend on a process of capacity enhancement of teachers, community members, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and Community Based Organizations (CBOs) and education administrators. It also aims to improve the curriculum and teaching methods while promoting
hygiene practices and community ownership of water and sanitation facilities within schools. It improves children’s health, school enrolment, attendance and retention and paves the way for a new generation of healthy children.
In the backdrop of the above, Faculty of Education, SGT University launched Swachh Bharat: Swachh Vidyalaya campaign involving B.Ed. teacher trainees and faculty members on 6th October 2017 in New Shishu Kalyan Public School, Chandu and GSSS, Budhera to clean the school surroundings and sensitize the students, teachers as well as the community towards the importance of clean schools for children as their prerogative.
