Visit to Aurobindo Ashram
Education has become largely reductionist, materialistic, ego enforcing, and devoid of the joys of the spirit. It is in this context that there is a need to examine initiatives which are rooted in Indian tradition, seek alternatives in curriculum teaching and learning for measuring success, involve children in the process of learning and focus on learning from the another and not from an authoritative pedagogue.
In the backdrop of the above, teacher trainees of B.Ed First Year Faculty of Education, SGT University visited Aurobindo Ashram in First Semester to observe Aurobindo’s Philosophy of Education in action at Mirambika School New Delhi, a branch of Mother’s International, New Delhi.
The teacher trainees were supervised by Ms Janaki Ramachandran, Principal of Mirambika School and the trainees conducted their observation of teaching sessions as well as participated in the activities in a conducive environment. The project turned out to be a wholehearted purposeful activity.
