National Education Day: Investing in People, Prioritizing Education

National Education Day is a significant occasion to celebrate the importance of education and its role in shaping the future of a nation. To commemorate this day, an event was organized with the theme “To Invest in People, Prioritizing Education.” The event aimed to highlight the critical role education plays in empowering individuals and society.

Faculty of Education under the aegis of Institutions Innovation Council, SGT University in collaboration with Tutelage and Qabil the Academic Association of Faculty of Education organized a two-day program to celebrate “National Education Day” on 8th and 9th November 2023.

The program was organized under the patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Madhavi Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Education. Faculty coordinator of IIC Mr. Chandan Kumar Dubey, Assistant Professor, Department of Special Education, and Mr. Abhra Mukhopadhyay, Asst. Prof. Dept. of Special Education coordinated the program. The events of the program were coordinated by Dr. Manita Devi, Asst. Prof. Dept. of Education, Faculty of Education.

The two-day program started on 8th November 2023 at 10 AM with the participation of 40 students from across the Faculty of Nursing, Faculty of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences, Faculty of Behavioural Sciences, and Faculty of Education. Students participated in different events ranging from Diya Decoration, Rangoli Making, and Poster Making. It was a colorful, engaging, and thoughtful event, students enjoyed and gave their full effort toward the theme of celebration “To Invest in People, Prioritizing Education”.

The second half of the session was taken by Dr. Vandana Gupta, affiliated with the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (C.C.R.T), State Council of Educational Research and Training (S.C.E.R.T), and National Council  Educational Research and Training (N.C.E.R.T), professional Art Educator and Craft Resource person. Her expertise ranges from puppet making, Performing with Storytelling, FOLK-ARTS– Tie and Dye, Lippan, rangoli making, wall decorations, etc. She owns shadow puppetry theatre group- “Pratyaksh Theatre” and has performed in several reputed institutions like Sangeet Natak Academi, NCERT, Aksharatheatre, CCRT, AES, and various public and government schools and D.I.E.T. Madam has engaged students present in session joyfully by preparing various art and craft items made out of low cost and no cost materials like newspaper and rough paper, on which she instructed to draw some sketches and cut it along to make beautiful handhold puppet, which she used in storytelling. She also demonstrated various techniques of shadow puppetry and explained how it can be used in the classroom as an innovative pedagogy.   

Report of the Event dated 9th November 2023

The event started with the anchoring of Ms. Geetanjali and Ms. Nitu students of the Integrated B.Ed M.Ed program. Prof. (Dr.) Madhavi Sharma, Dean Faculty of Education and Resource person for the day lighted the lamp. Prof. (Dr.) Madhavi Sharma, Dean Faculty of Education gave the welcome address emphasising the importance of National Education Day.

Resource Person Ms. Amita Bhatti, Asst. Prof. Faculty of Mass Communication took a session on Language and communication, her session was very interactive and students actively participated in the session.

The next resource person of the program was Dr. Neha Sharma, Asst. Prof. Faculty of Education, madam talked about the significance of the day, policy perspectives of education, and different innovative pedagogies used in education.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Abhra Mukhopadhyay, Asst. Prof. Faculty of Education. The role, significance, and importance of the Institutions Innovation Council of SGT University were explained to students, different queries of students were clarified and the program concluded with Group Photo.
